| They stack the decks so it is hard to win... | 2010-07-03 | 2 / 5 |
| | I like to play a game that is at least winnable. This game does not randomize the deck but rather stacks it hard. I played 20 games and did not win 1 game... I will try to find a MAC solitaire game that at least gives you a shot at winning... |
| Burning Monkey Solitaire 4 - Best Solitaire Game for the Mac! | 2010-01-17 | 5 / 5 |
| I'm a BIG fan of solitaire games, and have played them for years. Most of the ones I own are for the PC, but I recently began looking for a good quality solitaire game for my Mac. I downloaded and installed several trial versions of solitaire from different developers, and absolutely loved the graphics and playability of Burning Monkey Solitaire 4 (I play with the large print deck. The smaller print deck didn't have the quality of graphics I was looking for). There are several different variations of solitaire to choose from, and the game has just the right balance of "autoplay" where it lets me move the cards I want, but takes away the tedious task of moving all of the cards to the foundations when you know you have the game won.
With regards to a previous comment from another reviewer -- the monkey chatter is cute but can get to be a bit much at times, but it's very easy to turn off. In fact, I keep the monkeys quiet and out of site most of the time.
I purchased this CD used from a seller in the Marketplace and got an excellent deal on it. Sure, it's not new, but the price was right, and the CD plays fine, so I'm very happy!
If you like solitaire and you have a Mac, try Burning Monkey Solitaire 4. You won't be disappointed! |
| Good, but very busy background and few options | 2009-12-10 | 3 / 5 |
| I needed some games for my iMac and decided to try Burning Monkey Solitaire after several positive reviews on a Mac Web site.
While the selection of games is OK, the background and sound effects are WAY too busy for my liking. They would appeal to some kids, but not as many adults.
In Free Cell, the cards at the top are way too close together, so it appears as though they are one row. On a PC, you have a separation of your throw away cards and your stacks. This was incredibly difficult at first. The cards are close together because of the graphics background, which includes some bright colors, but way too much detail.
So far, I've been unable to find a way to change the preferences of the games, which is incredibly frustrating. I'd like to play solitaire and be able to go through the deck more than one time before the game ends. Unfortunately, in this version, you only get one shot at it.
I did find a way to get the monkey graphics off, but the background remains and is still distracting. If you leave the monkey graphics on, little jokes pop up as you play games, which can be distracting. There is also a lot of monkey chatter that just comes on in the middle of games. If you have the speakers way up, look out. Also, it does not tell you when you've lost a game, so you could go into infinity if you don't watch it.
I just want really basic games - exactly like you find on a PC - except for a Mac. It should not be this difficult to find. |

| | After the first hour the monkey chatter, antics start to pale! Couldn't find a way to shut them off. |
| If you like to play cards on your computer, this is it. | 2007-10-05 | 4 / 5 |
| | I had played the trial version of Burning Monkey Solitaire for quite some time and decided to buy the full version. I think it's great. The game also proves that the old jokes are the best. |
