| The game is pretty fun but can get repeative | 2010-05-09 | 3 / 5 |
| | It's not a bad game but it's just nothing special, I mean you play as Link in the game and the text is boring. The magic system is kind of cool however, you travel from place to place fighting monsters and have to locate new spells and items. It's kind of like your regular Zelda game just as a platformer. If you really want to try it buy it,otherwise you could skip this one. All and all it's just average is all. |
| Kickin' it old school | 2010-03-30 | 4 / 5 |
| | This game is different from most of the other Zelda game - no hearts for life, just a meter, various magic spells, and a different item system than usually seen, along with leveling up RPG-style. Overall it's a enjoyable game. I really did enjoy this game and enjoyed the different format. Of course, having a shiny gold game cartridge is cool too. |

| Man up people | 2009-04-01 | 5 / 5 |
| | For starters, this is a very fun and challenging game. It is one of my favorite games because of that. I personally feel that people give this game a bad review simply because they can't handle it. I am a fan of a wide variety of games, mainly the Zelda series and rpg's like Final Fantasy. No one can actually play this game and give it anything less than 5 stars for any reason, (unless of course you are terrible at this game and are expecting something incredibly easy like the first Zelda and pretty much every Zelda game after Zelda 2). Don't expect this game to be like the other Zelda games because its not, if you want a game to be like Zelda 1, than play Zelda 1! Do yourself a favor, if you have not played this game get it and play it and see for yourself. If you are looking for a Zelda game that is EXACTLY like all the others (easy, predictable, short......did i mention easy?) than you might have trouble with this game at first. It is a great game, a fun game, one of my favorite games, and i will never review this game based on Zelda 1 or any other Zelda games. This is Zelda 2, review it for being Zelda 2 not Zelda 1 or any of the others. This is one of the best games I have ever played. |
| Better Than The Original | 2009-03-02 | 5 / 5 |
| Hit or miss with everyone. Heres the deal: side scrolling games only existed for a short while. If Zelda had never ventured into the side scrolling genre, people would always have wondered what Zelda as a side scroller would have been like, if Zelda had played a little like Mario. And contrarywise, if Zelda 2 had just been a rehashed copy of the original, it would have been stale, and A Link To The Past might not have been as good.
Its got RPG elements. What i really love about this game is how important magic spells are. They become your true weapons. The fireball spell and the jump spell and the shield spell are essentials. The enemies are challenging, the dungeouns are challenging.
One thing I always felt that I dont know if people tend to agree with it the bosses. They have a semi-evil feel. Like Carock, the evil hooded Wizard, or the Dragon in the lava. They are also challenging.
Finally, it wouldnt be fair if i didnt talk about the final obstacle. Just getting to the final palace is tough. You only have 3 lives. And the last palace is big and difficult. The last boss...ThunderBird, is very hard, requires alot of your magic just to be able to fight him. And if you beat him, you get the super hard Shadow Link. Truly, Shadow Link can be beaten quite easily if you fight him kinda cheaply.
It took me a long time to be able to beat this game. But after beating it, I decided that this was alot of fun, and in my opinion, better than the original. Most dont see it that way, sadly. Many even hate this game because of its difficulty. It takes patience and mastery. It is truly a classic, one of the best 8 bit games ever.
Also, not sure if this is the NES version also, but on the Gameboy SP version (NES classic series) if you beat the game, you restart with all your spells and level ups. Neat.
Link goes side scroller. Classic NES Zelda comes in two flavors: traditional and experimental, overhead and side scroller. I choose Adventure of Link. This game is more fun for me.
Apparantly theres a deep story behind the game, but I really dont remember it. |
