In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, you once again play as a Pokémon Ranger, working to help people, Pokémon and nature in a new area called the Almia Region. Starting out as a Student Ranger, you quickly earn the title of a full-fledged Pokémon Ranger. As you succeed in more and more missions, you will aspire to become the highest Ranger rank: Top Ranger. Along the way you meet and capture all kinds of different Pokémon.

Gameplay Capture wild Pokémon and create a team to clear obstacles and solve puzzles encountered along the way. After players use a Pokémon's ability, it will leave the player's team; however, you will have a Partner Pokémon that will always stay by your side. As you progress through Missions and Quests, your Capture Styler becomes more powerful, giving your Styler more Energy and eventually advancing you to the level of Top Ranger.
Characters Harness the power of hundreds of different Pokémon. In addition, players can choose to be a boy or girl Pokémon Ranger.
Key Game Features - Pokémon Ranger is a unique action-adventure series that features a fun, different way to capture Pokémon with the Nintendo DS stylus, which controls an item called the Capture Styler in the game. Players circle the Pokémon they want to catch by drawing circles around them on the touch screen. When you complete certain Quests, the Ranger Union awards you with power-ups, which add new upgrades and functions to your Capture Styler, allowing you to advance as you work to eventually become a Top Ranger (the most revered Ranger of all).
- Now you can partner with a variety of different Pokémon of each type to complete Missions-giving you many options on how to approach different challenges. Every Pokémon is different, and capturing a Pokémon allows you to use its abilities to overcome various obstacles and challenges you will face along the way. The job of a Pokémon Ranger is never done: your duties will include fighting wildfires, rescuing people or even delivering an important package.
- Your journey to become a Top Ranger takes you to the new region of Almia. This game has a larger world, more Missions, more adventure and more to do than the previous Pokémon Ranger games. It has a storyline full of adventure and the ability to travel to and explore many exciting new areas in Almia, including oceans, forests, deserts and more with the help of your Partner Pokémon.

Special Powers, Weapons, Moves & Features Use the Capture Styler to capture wild Pokémon. Once they are captured, wild Pokémon will follow the player around until their powers are used (either in a Poké Assist or a Field Move).
- A Poké Assist is when the player uses an already captured Pokémon to help capture another wild Pokémon.
- A Field Move is when the player uses a captured Pokémon's power to clear an obstacle that blocks his way or perform any another helpful function with it.

I want to go ahead and state this before continuing with this review- this game is not, or is intended to be easy unlike many games. You can fly through pokemon ruby for example, but this game takes dedicated time to beat. There are occasions that are frustrating when you fight certain pokemon due to the difficulty of capture.
Continuing on, this keeps the game from being boring. There are interesting partner pokemon, the graphics are amazing, and the story is actually quite interesting, especially compared to some pokemon games, (e.g Pokemon Red/Blue).

Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia!
I thought the game was great, it had a good story to play with. I didn't finish the game, I didn't even get close to... but I found it fun and interesting. The game was in perfect condition like just out of the store. That's pretty much all I can say about it because I didn't get that far into the game. I'm pretty sure the game will be very much more interesting and addicting:) |

| i only play hand held games and pokemon is one of the few i will play as well as kirby games. i do love watching them and wished they would put out other games like deep sea dive as well as the original frogger. i hate the newer games, not the best as far as i'm concerned as i love pokemon games and collect them! |

| I LOVE THIS GAME!!!! the best pokemon game i have played in a while. its a little short i wish i didnt have played it all the time cuse im done lol... the bosses could have been a little tougher some bosses.like it said on some of the bosses it said "theres a really tough pokemon ahead" when it should have said "theres a really easy pokemon up there that will take you about a 2 minutes to catch" thats all. overall I LOVE THIS GAME!!! ONE OF THE BEST POKEMON GAMES EVER!!!!!!! |

I played the original pokemon ranger and was very happy when pokemon ranger shadows of almia came out. I love the pokemon ranger games and prefer it compared to the other pokemon games. In the game pokenom ranger shadows of almia you play a pokemon ranger, some one who protects all pokemon from harm. The game uses a capture stylus that is used to capture pokemon and gives a very interactive feeling, unlike in other pokemon games where u just watch pokemon battle. The capture stylus is used by making circles around the pokemon with your ds stylus until the pokemon is captured. Different levels of pokemon require a certian amount of circles drawn, the harder the pokemon the more number of circles. In the begining of the pokemon ranger shadows of almia game you go to "ranger school" which is very fun even if you already played the the first game and knew all the controlls. Once you finish "ranger school" you start the game. In the game you have one "partner pokemon", a pokemon that will stay with you and can help you capture pokemon by using there special powers. Along with partner pokemon you also have "friend pokemon" which are pokemon that you have captured, but friend pokemon cant stay with you forever you have to give them up once you leave an area. There are no "levels" inthe game, but there are missions. Some missions took more time than others but over all they where very easy and i was able to beat the game in less than a day. Even though the game was short it didnt mean it was not super fun! Once your finish all the missions and get to rank 10 (the highest rank the you can recive in the game, you get it by completeing all the missions) u can:
A.download new missions through wifi
B.contuine and complete all the quests (small tasked asked to do by the townspeople)
C.test your ability in the ranger battle area where you have to try to capture tough pokemon (only avaiable after completeing all missions)
D.complete your pokedex
F.start over and replay the game (yes it is so fun it makes you want to play it again)
so even once you complete all the missions you never run out of things to do. This game is probably one of the best games for ds and I will continue to play it over and over and it will continue be as much fun as the first time I played it. |
