Half-Life games, the latest AI technology allows for multiplayer games of one to eight players.
A new and highly virulent strain of the rabies virus emerges and spreads through the human population with frightening speed. The pandemic's victims become grotesquely disfigured widely violent psychopaths, attacking the uninfected on sight. As one of the "lucky" few apparently immune to the sickness, you, unfortunately, are also trapped in a city crawling with thousands of the bloodthirsty Infected. Alone, you're dead. But together with a handful of fellow survivors, you might just fight your way to safety.
Players can play as a Survivor or as one of four types of Boss Infected, each of whom possess a unique mutant ability, such as a 50-foot tongue lasso or a giant belly full of explosive methane gas. The gameplay of
L4D is set across four massive campaigns. The zombie population of each mission is choreographed by an AI Director that monitors the human players' actions and creates a unique and dramatic experience for them on the fly.

Too often designers try to substitute tons of boring content and story for engaging gameplay. I am tired of collecting 100 hidden coins to unlock a lame costume or waiting thru 15 minutes of movies just to begin playing a game. I want quality, original gameplay and this game has that.
Yes, every level is similar and yes there is some room for improvement, like any game. But, there is a reason why the same zombie movie has been made 100 times. . . shooting zombies is fun and this game captures that fun like no other game before. This game is also original because it forces you to work as a team and stick together. If you go off on your own, you will die, it's that simple.
Simply put, this is one of the most entertaining games I have ever played (and I started with Pong). I put it right up there with all the other classics built around solid gameplay, not story and add-ons; Pac-Man, GoldenEye, Street Fighter, etc. . . I say buy it and I can't wait for the next one.
DISCLAIMER: This game is designed to be played online. If you don't have the ability to play online, it is a rental at best.

| The game is amazing and it's addicting. The AI is unbelievable on expert mode. It's scary, it's fun, even more so on versus mode online. Definitely worth getting. One of the best games of the year. |

| I love everything zombie but I am not much of a gamer...until now. I can't get enough of this game. It consumes my thoughts and dreams, or should I say nightmares? My kids were laughing at me because I screamed so much during the game play but I don't care because the game is intense and fun! I feel that I am actually in the game fighting off the hordes of undead. Everything is quite realistic from the scary sayings spray painted on the walls to the rescue attempts made. All in all, it is worth every penny spent on the game and more!!! BEWARE THE WITCH!!! |

| This game doesn't have that much to it and doesn't have many weapons, I'm not a gamer really and I beat it in 9 hours. That being said, it gave me nightmares the A.I. is insane nothing is in the same place twice, even the good stuff, and I was nervous playing the game trying to avoid death even though it wasn't that easy to die. I never got a change to play online but the actual game's A.I. seemed real enough to be just as good. |
