God of War saw Kratos, a mortal warrior, set upon an epic quest to dethrone a God. But his journey did not end there. In God of War II, Kratos sits atop his Olympus throne, as the new God of War - far more ruthless than Ares ever was. To end his continued torment, Kratos must journey to the far reaches of the earth and defeat untold horrors and alter that which no mortal, or god has ever changed, his fate. God of War II sets an epic stage for a devastating mythological war to end all wars.

| This game is not as good as its predecessor. The story takes a significant dive, but the gameplay is as good if not better.
And the graphics are.....worse? That doesn't seem possible, but I feel like that in the first one, when the resolution or textures were bad, the camera would stay zoomed out so we wouldn't notice. But in this game, there are dozens of shots and scenes that really let you get up close and personal with bad graphics.
I think the music was just as good as God of War, as was the voice acting. The variety of enemies was different, but a little better, if for no other reason than the inclusion of the 'Jason and the Argonauts' skeleton soldiers.
This game is also easier than God of War I.
Overall it's a great game compared to everything else, but very 'sequel-y' compared to the first God of War. |

| | If you haven't played GoW 2 chances are you haven't played the first one either, since most people who've played the first follow the entire series. So my advice if you are thinking about buying this game is as many already know buy the collection if you own a ps3. Both GoW games are great, but the second one is the best one. GoW felt liked an unfinished game and Gow 2 seems like what the developers truly wanted. one of my favorite gaming experience of all time. |

| | The God of War series is as epic as series come. I joined the GOW train after playing Chains of Olympus (on PSP) and was instantly hooked. The storyline, the characters, the incredible voice acting and, let's not forget, the insane graphics all combined to make one intensely satisfying and thoroughly fantastic game. I started the GOW PS series with God of War 3, so I played the series backwards in a sense. Of course, God of War 2's graphics can't hold up to God of War 3's stellar ones, but that's not hard to understand seeing as GOW2 is several years older. Gameplay from God of War 1 improved leaps and should be commended. The voice acting is still superior, and the in-game movies are rendered beautifully. The game seems much longer than God of War 3, however I might have just been so into GOW3 that I finished it in one weekend. The number of puzzles in GOW2 got to me due to the fact some of them require many mistakes before getting them right, which made me want to just get to the end or next Save point instead of enjoying the game for what it offered. The story is much deeper than God of War 1 and fluid than its predecessor, and dare I say offers more than God of War 3 in that department. The music is probably the best of any GOW game and I found it perfectly fitting for every scene, every cutscene and in-game movie. Overall, God of War 2 is a worthy entry in the GOW series and stands out as the best PS2 title around. |
| if you like action and greek mythology... | 2010-05-12 | 5 / 5 |
| | and topless goddess's then this game is for you! new weapons and moves and super moves. you stomp through ancient greece wasting minotaurs, gorgons, cyclops's, cerberus, etc. and the boss's are frequently major mythological characters; thesius, perseus (clash of the titans main character), the fates. the gameplay is solid and fun, there are no problems with this game. you get to fight griffins while riding a pegesus through the clouds and the camera zooms in for mini slowmo shots of the finishing moves! as always the blades of chaos (like butterfly knives on long chains made of lava) are the only one you'll want to use, the others are cool but not as amazingly fantastic as them. a cliff hanger ending will make you want to run out and buy 3! |

| | For any gamers out there that are heavily into playstation, need to at least rent this game. It is superb. You really don't need to play the first one, unless you get really hooked and want to learn more about the story. Overall, I give this game a 9/10. Try it!!! |
